Gil Semedo

Gil Semedo Moreira (born 25 October 1974) is a Cape Verdean singer and composer who emigrated at the age of six and grew up in the Netherlands. He is little known in Germany.

In 1989 he reached the age of 15 the final of the " Henny Huisman Sound Mix Show ". First album " Menina " (Girl) with " Gil & the Perfect 2 ". In 1999, he survived a car accident in which he lost a foot.

The single " Sweet Honey " became a hit that produced by Rick Arnold ran video to the world.

Gil, with over 500,000 albums sold the most successful Lusophone African artists. In 2003, he appeared at the Gamboa Festival in Praia and inspired more than 100,000 fans. The new, well-established in the Netherlands, Portugal and France album known musicians such as DABS, Johnny Fonseca, Grace Evora and Dina Medina have participated.

His music is a blend of traditional styles of music of Cape Verde, as Coladeira, Funaná, Rowdy and modern music styles like Zouk, Kizomba, pop and R & B.
