Gila Gamliel

Gila Gamliel (Hebrew: גילה גמליאל; born February 24, 1974 in Gederah ) is an Israeli politician of the Likud.

17 February 2003 to 17 April 2006 she was a member of the 16th Knesset. Since 24 February 2009, she is member of the 18th Knesset. From March 30 2005 to 14 January 2006, she was Secretary of State for Agriculture and Rural Development in the second government of Ariel Sharon. Since April 1, 2009 she is again Secretary of State, this time with responsibility for youth, students and women in the second government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

Gamaliel has studied Middle Eastern history and philosophy at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and has been chairman of the student council. Later she studied law at the Ono Academic College and Bar - Ilan University.

Gila Gamliel is married for the second time and lives in Tel Aviv- Jaffa.
