Gilbert Vernam

Gilbert Sandford Vernam ( born April 4, 1890 in Brooklyn, New York, † February 7, 1960 ) was an employee at AT & T ( Bell Labs), American engineer. In 1917 he invented the stream cipher and was then involved in the invention of the one- time pad encryption method.
