Gilberto Hernández Guerrero

Gilberto Eduardo Hernández Guerrero ( born February 4, 1970 in Ébano, San Luis Potosí ) is a Mexican chess player and coach.

Hernández learned at the age of five years, playing chess and started eight years to participate in regional tournaments. Although he had no coach, the three-time Mexican champion was single at age 19 with 25 years of international master and grandmaster in 1995 ( as the third Grand Master of Mexico). His older brother Eduardo ( b. 1968 ) bears the title FIDE Master.

In 1981, he finished third at the U14 World Cup in Xalapa. In 1986, he was Pan-American Champion Cadets ( U16 ) in Puerto Rico. Hernández won in the 1990s and 2000s, many tournaments in France, Spain, the USA and Mexico. He took 1986-2010 nine times for Mexico at the Chess Olympiad in part with a score of 27, = 43, -18. In the 2003 /04 season he played in France Evry Grand Roque for.

As a coach, he was seconded in 2001 Viswanathan Anand and 2002 Vallejo Pons at the tournament in Linares.

He is married to Argentine woman Grand Master ( WGM ) Claudia Amura and has four children. Since 1993 he lives alternately in Valencia, Spain, and the province of San Luis, Argentina.

His Elo rating is 2540 (as of July 2009), he is so behind Juan Carlos González Zamora in second place, the Mexican Elo ranking, which he led with short breaks in the 1990s and 2000s, more than ten years had. His previous highest Elo rating was 2572 in July 2000.
