Gillian Wearing

Gillian Wearing OBE RA ( born December 10, 1963 in Birmingham) is a British contemporary artist, concept art, photo art and video art works in the fields. It is one of the Young British Artists.

Life

Wearing studied art at the Chelsea School of Art in Chelsea, London from 1985 to 1987 and at Goldsmiths College in 1987 until 1990.

1997 she was awarded the Turner Prize. On 11 December 2007 she was elected a full member of the Royal Academy of Arts ( RA) in London and in 2011 the Order of Merit Order of the British Empire ( OBE) awarded for their services to the arts.

She is in a relationship with the artist Michael Landy.
