Gino Iorgulescu

Gino Iorgulescu ( born May 15, 1956 in Giurgiu ) is a former Romanian football player.

Career as a player

Iorgulescu began his career in the youth team of his home club FC Dunărea Giurgiu, where he played previously only in lower leagues Romania. In 1976 he first came to Sportul Studenţesc, where he spent two years under contract and made ​​his debut against Universitatea Craiova in Liga 1. In 1976 he went to Progresul Bucharest, where he played only one year. He returned in 1977 to Sportul Studenţesc and remained until 1989. During this time, his debut was in the Romanian national team against Switzerland in 1981. 1984 he was appointed to the Executive of the Romanian selection for the European Football Championship 1984 in France. He was inducted twice and got a yellow card. His last international game he played against Egypt in 1986.

In 1989 he moved abroad to Belgium Germinal Ekeren, where he remained only a year and it ended his career.

Career as a coach

In the 1998/99 season Iorgulescu took over after 21 Gameday instead of the dismissed José Ramón Alexanko until end of season as coach at FC Naţional Bucharest. He, however, failed to achieve the desired qualification for the UEFA Cup.
