Giovanni Garzoni

Giovanni Garzoni, also Garzo (* 1419 in Bologna, † January 28, 1505 ) was an Italian humanist, rhetorician and teacher.

1466 to 1505 he was professor of medicine at the University of Bologna. Among his pupils were Erasmus Stella, Theodoricus block and Christoph von Scheurl. He was tutor of Leandro Alberti. He left several writings.

Twelve years after his death, Stella gave up the font Garzo John De rebus Saxoniae, Thuringiæ, Libanothiæ, Misniæ et Lusatiæ.

The 1438-1454 teaching as a canonist in Padua Venetian Giovanni Garzo is not identical with Giovanni Garzoni.
