Girgajny

Girgajny ( German Gergehnen ) is a village in the Warmia - Mazury in northeastern Poland. The place belongs to Gmina Zalewo in powiat Iławski.

Geography

Girgajny lies in the moraine landscape of the Upper Lands, about four kilometers east of Zalewo. The district is bounded on the north by Nehmensee and the former mill stream. The Nehmensee was drained in the 19th century and used as meadow. According to the evidence of satellite images it is filled up at an unknown date after 1945. In the east the district abuts a wooded area, the former Terpener forest.

History

Good Gergehnen

Gergehnen was founded by the Teutonic Order as an asset of the great outdoors.

In the 19th century Gergehnen had the status of a Gutsbezirks. The Gutsbezirk Gergehnen ( with large and small businesses), it was assumed in 1874 the District terpene in a circle Morag.

Trivia: In 1898, the landowner family Glüer was one of the official escort of Emperor Wilhelm II during his visit to the Holy Land.

Large and small companies

Company was founded by the Teutonic Order as a hook Interest village. This village was a chamberlain of the Commandery Christburg as the official residence. Company is desolate like in the early modern period. The lands were incorporated into the Good Gergehnen, which set up the outworks large and small companies to their management.

Chamber office business

Within the agrarian system of the German Teutonic Order a Chamber Office has had the function to control the Old Prussian hook Interest villages by the eunuch collected the taxes to the Teutonic Order and the labor services ( band network services ) one rushed the hook tenant farmers. The chamber office company was set up in 1300 and 1525 did not survive the end of the Order state. It was under the Commandery Christburg, which was replaced 1466-1525 by the Main Office Prussian Mark.

To the Chamber office business included the hook Interest villages anchors, Bandtken, Boditten, Bündtken, Kattern, business, Plenkitten, Rombitten, ( large and small ) Smausien, Sorbehnen, Woritten and Zöpel, and the hook tenant farmers in Galindia, Małdyty, Pothainen and Sassen.

Community Gergehnen

The Gutsbezirk Gergehnen 1928 dissolved and combined with the previous Gutsbezirk Mosen to the municipality Gergehnen a realignment. Belonging to the District terpene lasted until 1945. The municipality had Gergehnen in 1933: 362 inhabitants and in 1939: 332 inhabitants.

Development after 1945

After integration into the Polish state Gergehnen was renamed Girgajny and slammed the newly Gmina Zalewo. The place is now home to a Schulz Office without other associated towns.

The two outworks large companies and small companies are desolate fallen after 1945.
