Girne American University

The American University Girne ( Turkish Girne Amerikan Üniversitesi, English: Girne American University, abbreviation GAU) is a nationally recognized private university in Girne, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The university was founded in 1985 as an independent non -profit institution of higher education. The university buildings and accommodations are located in the suburb of Karaoglanoglu, about four kilometers west of the city of Girne. In the British Canterbury, Kent, the Girne American University Canterbury was founded as a branch.

About 5,800 students are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs. Lingua franca of the University is English.
