Girvan Dempsey

Girvan Dempsey (born 2 October 1975, in Dublin ) is a former Irish rugby union player who played at the position of the final art. He was active for the region Leinster and the Irish national team.

Career

Dempsey was in November 1998, his debut for Ireland against Georgia and put it two tries. In 2000 he became a regular in the national team and played in all matches in the World Cup 2003. During the summer 2004 he came to his 50th appearance in the national team jersey. He went on, inter alia, as an external three-quarters. With his attempt against England in the Six Nations in 2004 he made for winning the Triple Crown that Ireland had not won since 1985. He was also at the 2007 World Championships in the squad of the Irish, but already were eliminated in the first round.

With Leinster Dempsey won the 2009 Heineken Cup. After the end of the season 2009/10 he announced his resignation.
