Giuseppe Bertolucci
Giuseppe Bertolucci ( born February 27, 1947 in Parma, † 16 June, 2012 Diso, Lecce, Apulia Province ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter.
Career
The younger brother of Bernardo Bertolucci worked as assistant director on this and earlier for Gianni Amico and turned in the 1970s, mostly documentaries or for Italian television. In 1977, he first worked as a director for the big screen and with Roberto Benigni at Berlinguer ti voglio bene. With it, he spent the next years artistically connected. Bertolucci was designated as one of the most personal directors and turned further films, but at longer intervals. In all his work, he was also involved in the screenplay.
In Bertolucci's theater work mainly various monologues stand out, which he wrote in the 1970s; in addition he also worked as a director for the stage.
On 18 June 2002 Bertolucci was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. He was president of the Cineteca di Bologna.
