Giuseppe Gené

Carlo Giuseppe Gené ( born December 7, 1800 Turbigo, Lombardy, † July 14, 1847 ) was an Italian naturalist and author.

He was born in Turbigo in Lombardy and studied at the University of Pavia. He has published a number of papers on scientific topics. His main focus was the entomology. In 1828 he was appointed lecturer in natural sciences at the university. The following year he traveled to Hungary, from where he returned with a collection of insects. Between 1833 and 1838 he traveled four times to Sardinia to collect insects there.

1830 followed Giuseppe Franco Andrea Bonelli GENE according to the Department of Zoology and was also the director of the Zoological Museum in Turin. Today, there is most of his insect collection.

The slender- (Larus genei ) is named after him. Giuseppe Gené, among other describer of the Eleonora's falcon, which he named after the Sardinian Eleonora of Arborea regent, the firm also wrote provisions for the protection of birds of prey in the collection of laws initiated by her Carta de LOGU the late 14th century.
