Giuseppe Gentile

Giuseppe Gentile ( born September 4, 1943 in Rome ) is an Italian former athlete.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City the Dreispringer get on 16 October with 17.10 meters in qualifying and on 17 October with 17.22 meters in the final two world records. However, he won only the bronze medal. He was surpassed by Viktor Sanejew with 17.39 meters and 17.27 meters with Nelson Prudencio.

The European Athletics Championships 1969 in Athens, he finished with 16.03 meters seventh. 1972 in Munich, he could not qualify with 16.04 meters for the final.

At the European Indoor Games 1966, he was fourth with 16.25 meters, at the first official European Indoor Championships in 1970, he was seventh with 16.12 meters.

Giuseppe Gentile 1968 was Italian champion in the long jump and in the years 1965, 1966, 1968, 1970 and 1971 champion in the triple jump.

His best performance in the triple jump were the 17.22 meters from Mexico City. In the long jump him reach 7.91 meters. Giuseppe Gentile is 1,90 m tall and weighed 83 kg in his playing days.

In 1969 he took over the role of Jason on the side of Maria Callas a starring role in Pier Paolo Pasolini's film Medea.
