Nelson Prudêncio

Prudêncio Nelson ( born April 4, 1944 in Lins, São Paulo, † November 23, 2012 in São Carlos ) was a Brazilian triple jumper.

Life

In 1965, he was charged with 14.52 meters for the first time Brazilian champion. These Championships were held at that time only every two years, and Prudêncio remained unbeaten until 1971, In 1967 he won with 6.82 meters in the long jump.

In 1967 he won at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg with 16.45 meter silver behind the American Charles Craig.

Until the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City Prudêncio had to have a personal best of 16.30 meters. The world record of Poland Józef Szmidt ( 17.03 meters ) has already been exceeded in qualifying, as the Italian Giuseppe Gentile jumped 17.10 meters. Prudêncio jumped 16.46 meters, which was fourth in qualifying.
