Giusto Utens

Giusto Utens (* in Brussels? † 1609 in Carrara), actually Justus van Utens, was an Italian painter of Flemish origin.

Life

About his life little is known. From about 1580 he lived in Carrara, where he also married in 1588 and 1609 died. Be son Domenico was also active as a painter. Utens 14 preserved lunettes de Medici villas are his most famous work. Originally there were 17 you were ( 1599-1602 ) painted for the Medici Villa of Artimino, as a kind of inventory of the possessions of the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de ' Medici. After repeated change of location, the originals are now in the Museo di Firenze com'era.
