Villa di Montevettolini

The Villa di Montevettolini is a Medici villa in the municipality of Monsummano Terme in Tuscany.

The villa, also called Monte Vetturino, was built after 1595 at the behest of the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de ' Medici on a hill at the foot of Monte Albano. Architect Gherardo was Mechini, a student of Bernardo Buontalenti. Remains of older buildings were included. The completed around 1620 villas building seems austere and compact and more militaristic than comedy like. It served as the seat of administration of the surrounding Medici goods. Ferdinando I used it often. His grandson, Ferdinando II de ' Medici in 1650 sold the villa and its lands to the Bartolomei family. 1871 bought Prince Marcantonio Borghese possession and tried to give the character of the late 16th century, meanwhile, heavily modified Villa in the restoration again. The villa of Monevettolini is still owned by the Borghese heirs and is not publicly available.
