Give Up the Ghost (originally American Nightmare ) was a hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Band History
Give Up the Ghost was founded in 1998 by Tim Cossar, Wesley Eisold, Azy Relph and Jessey Van Diest under the name American Nightmare. In 1999, the band brought out a demo recording with four titles, which led to the band from the label Bridge Nine Records was signed. The debut album was released under the name American Nightmare in 2000. According to an extensive tour and changes in the cast, the band brought out in 2001, their second album The Sun Is not Getting Any Brighter.
The album Background Music, which was produced by Equal Vision Records, was released in 2001. In 2003, the band had to deal with a dispute about her name. A Misfits cover band from Philadelphia with the same name claimed the rights to this for themselves. As a result, replacing the band's name first by its initials, ON. Having the name has since been changed to American Nothing, the band but was faced with the threat of a lawsuit again, they changed the name to Give Up the Ghost, which was originally the name should be their next album. This appeared in 2003 under the name We're Down Til We're Underground on Equal Vision Records.
