Glandulocaudinae

As Glandulocaudinae a now no longer valid (recognized ) subfamily of the Real tetras ( Characidae ) was called. The Glandulocaudinae went to a revision of the Characidae on in the newly created subfamily Stevardiinae.

Features

The Glandulocaudinae were named the male after a common feature, a gland ( Glandulum ) on the caudal peduncle or shortly before the tail fin ( caudal ). Some species have an internal insemination. The males transfer a sperm packet ( Spermatozeugma ), which can be stored in the females and the males stored without eggs are fertilized with the.

Gandulocaudinae live from Costa Rica and Trinidad to South America, where its distribution area in southern South America is.
