Glasebach Pit
The pit Glasebach is a mining museum in the Harz Mountain fluorite and silver mining in the district Strassberg the city Harzgerode in the district of Harz, Saxony- Anhalt. It is operated by the City Harzgerode. The mine was founded under the name Trust in God.
Geographical location
The mine is located in the Lower Harz Harz nature park / Saxony- Anhalt. It is located about 800 m east-southeast of Strassberg on Strassberg - Neudorf lode ( 440.7 m above sea level. NN ) in the valley of the Selke influx Glasebach to about 400 m above sea level. NN.
History and Description
The mining industry in the area of Strassberg goes up to the time back to the year 1400. At Heidelberg north of Strassberg fluorite and silver was recovered and processed into Stolberg in a hut in the village on behalf of the count. On Glasebach, which marked the boundary between the county of Stolberg and the Principality of Anhalt- Bernburg, mining was also brisk. After a period of decline of the mining was resumed in the 18th century and operated intermittently until the 1960s.
The museum exhibits including the 1990 salvaged during the renovation old wooden bottom outlet of the Lower Kilian pond after it has been subjected by the resin waterworks in Clausthal- Zellerfeld a long-term preservation.
