Gleneagles Dialogue

The Gleneagles Dialogue is a series of conversations between the energy and environment ministers of the 20 countries with the world's highest energy consumption. The dialogue was initiated at the 2005 G8 Summit in Gleneagles, Scotland. The dialogue will be officially on topic " Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development".

The aim of the dialogue is to work together to decide on further inter-governmental action against global warming, build an environmentally friendly energy supply and to promote sustainable development.

In 2008, the fourth and so far last meeting took place in the context of the Gleneagles Dialogue on the Environment Ministers meeting in Kobe, Japan, instead.

Participant

Participating countries at the Gleneagles Dialogue on the one hand, the G8 countries: Germany, the United States of America, Japan, Great Britain, Canada, France, Italy and Russia. In addition, 12 other participants, namely Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa, South Korea and Spain, complemented by the European Commission. As an observer function, the International Energy Agency ( IEA), the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the major development banks.
