Global Engine Alliance

The Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA ) is a joint venture of carmaker Daimler AG, Hyundai and Mitsubishi.

The company was founded on 5 October 2005 designs and manufactures engines for the participating automakers. Manufacturing facilities are located in Dundee (Michigan, USA), Asan and Hwasung ( South Korea) and Shiga (Japan).

In September 2008, the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance produced by its own account the millionth engine and is now (as of July 2011) a 100 percent subsidiary of Chrysler.
