Glossop
Glossop is a town in the English county of Derbyshire. It belongs to the High Peak District. Glossop is situated about 21 km east of Manchester and about 39 km west of Sheffield and has 32,428 inhabitants ( 2001).
History
Glossop was occupied by the Romans; there are in Gamesley the relics of a Roman fort, which was called by the Romans Ardotalia, but nowadays Melandra is called. In the 19th century Glossop became an important cotton mill town.
