Gmina Zgorzelec

The Gmina Zgorzelec wiejska ( German: rural community Zgorzelec ) is a rural municipality in the Polish Lusatia in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The municipality is composed of 22 places. It has its headquarters in the town of Zgorzelec, which does not belong to her as an independent municipality. The Gmina Zgorzelec is a member of the euro region Neisse.

Geography

Geographical Location

The rural community of Zgorzelec is located in the Polish part of Upper Lusatia, which belonged to Poland since the end of World War II. The municipality is bordered to the west by the Lusatian Neisse, which also forms the border with Germany. The Czech Republic is bordered to the south by the municipality.

In addition to the Neisse River flow through numerous smaller rivers and streams the municipality. Among the most famous the Witka ( Wittig ), the Czerwona Woda and Henner Strand Water and Kesselbach. All rivers flow into the Lusatian Neisse. In the south of the municipality of the Witka is dammed up to a lake - the Niedów Reservoir, also known as Witka reservoir. The lake is used for cooling water for the coal power plant Turow.

Expansion of the municipal district

The municipality covers a territory of 136.28 square kilometers. 71 % of its territory is used for agriculture, 16 % is covered by forest. The northernmost locality is Przesieczany ( Hohkirch ) north of the Autostrada 4 The southernmost locality is Kostrzyna ( Trattlau ). It lies on the Czech border. Farthest east is the site of the Autostrada is Sławnikowice ( Kieslingswalde ) south 4

Neighboring communities

The rural municipality surrounds the west the town of Zgorzelec. Furthermore, the rest of the western border of the rural community along the Lusatian Neisse river runs and is also border with Germany. On the German side are the towns of Görlitz and Ostritz. In the north, municipality Pieńsk connects. In the east, the municipality of Siekierczyn powiat Lubański and to the southeast bordering the rural community Sulików. The communities Bogatynia and Zawidów lie on the southern border. In the southeast of the country municipality borders on the Okres Liberec in the Czech Republic.

History

The municipality was created in 1975 as part of the administrative reform and belonged until 1998 Voivodeship Jelenia Góra.

Policy

The administrative center of the municipality is located in the north of Zgorzelec at the intersection Ulica Ulica Lubańska and Tadeusz Kościuszko.

Churchwarden

Since 1986, Kazimierz Janik is the community leader.

Parish council

The council consists of 14 members and was last elected in 2010. The term of office is four years.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms depicts the golden community area on green crest reason. The Golden municipality is surrounded by the flags of the two neighboring countries Germany and the Czech Republic and the Polish flag. On the left edge of the crest is perpendicular the name ZGORZELEC and horizontally to read the word GMINA. Both words share the common letter G.

Traffic

Transportation

The PKS operates several Zgorzelec intercity bus services in the municipality. Most lines begin and end at the bus station of the town of Zgorzelec.

Rail transport

The community thwart several rail lines. Passenger stations there are on the railway line Węgliniec - Görlitz in Jędrzychowice and turn on the railway line Zgorzelec - Wałbrzych in Jerzmanki. In Jędrzychowice is connected to regional trains towards Węgliniec and on to Legnica and Wroclaw. On Jerzmanki station stop regional trains target Jelenia Góra Luban. Regional trains in the opposite directions generally end in Zgorzelec.

Road

The Autostrada 4 from Dresden to Wroclaw runs through the northern part of the municipality. The motorway Zgorzelec is the first exit east of the border crossing Ludwig Village / Jędrzychowice and at the same time the only exit in the municipality. It lies between the north-eastern industrial area of Zgorzelec and Jędrzychowice in the field of rural community.

From the motorway exit the Droga Krajowa leads 94 to the northeast largely parallel to the Autostrada 4 and the Droga Krajowa 30 east to Luban. The roads in the north and south have the status of Droga wojewódzka (DW). To the north, the DW 351 leads to Pieńsk. To the south run the DW 352 and DW 355 Bogatynia after Zawidów.
