Gniewkowo

Gniewkowo (1879-1920 and 1939-1945 German Argenau ) is a city in the powiat Inowrocławski in the Kujawsko - Pomerania in Poland and the seat of the municipality of the same name.

History

Historians believe that Gniewkowo has received city rights in 1268. In 1287 the duchy was divided among Inowrocław the three sons of the Duke; the youngest Gniewkowski Kazimierz became the Duke a Duchy Gniewkowo. In 1322 this duchy was occupied by the Teutonic Knights, returned in 1343.

In the 16th century made ​​some fire disasters, particularly devastating was the year 1582.
