Gnome Commander

Gnome Commander is a two column graphical file manager for Linux, which is particularly well integrated into the Gnome desktop environment. It is based on the GIMP Toolkit ( GTK ) and the Gnome Virtual File System ( GnomeVFS ). In addition to Linux, BSD, and Cygwin are supported. The latter allows the use under Windows operating systems. The program is distributed under the GNU General Public License and has been translated into over 30 languages. The program is part of the package scope of common Linux distributions such as Debian and openSUSE. Furthermore, many other distributions are supported.

Features and functions

The Gnome Commander is one of the file managers with zweigeteiltem main window. Revision history

The first public version of the Gnome Commander was on 2 August 2001 provided for download ( version 0.90 - pre1 Released). Almost 2 years later, in June 2003, was version 1.0, which first declared as stable version released. Gnome Commander was developed by the first published version by January 2004 (Version 1.1.6 ) by Marcus Bjurman. 2006, the development of Piotr Eljasiak and Assaf Gordon was acquired. After Piotr Eljasiak died in January 2012 and Assaf Gordon has left the project apparently, Uwe Scholz took over the care of the Gnome Commander.
