GnuLinEx
LinEx or GNU / LinEx is a Linux distribution based on Debian. The development was initiated by the government of the Spanish region of Extremadura, which decided in April 2002 to use LinEx on all computers in schools and public administration. The project had clear parallels to Guadalinex the Andalusian government.
In 2013 Limex, 2013, based on Debian, was published.
History
The regional government of Extremadura invested 300,000 euros in LinEx and so far could thereby saving 30 million euros. The initiative brought the end of 2003 Extremadura with two students per computer in Europe as a top performer in this area. By May 2003 200.000 CDs of your distribution were distributed free in Extremadura, another 70,000 have been downloaded. Also the use in business and private sector is actively promoted.
