Göktürk-2

Göktürk 2 is a largely developed and built in Turkey reconnaissance satellite.

He was placed in a sun-synchronous orbit on December 18, 2012 at 16:13 CET with a Long March 2D carrier rocket from China's Jiuquan launch site.

The actual predecessor Göktürk 1 is still in development. A contract of Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space on the one hand with the Turkish Defense Ministry on the other hand to build a reconnaissance satellite with a resolution of less than one meter was closed in December 2008. This Telespazio should include local Turkish companies in the development of systems of satellites and a ground segment.

The three -axis stabilized satellite is equipped with a built in South Korea and multispectral camera has a resolution of 2.5 m panchromatic, multispectral 10 m and 20 m in the near-infrared region and a swath width of 20 km. The Speicherkazität on board the satellite is 15 GB. The solar boom comes from the German company SpaceTech from Immenstaad. Göktürk 2 was built on behalf of the Turkish Ministry of Defense and has a design life of five years. Besides military duties, he will also serve civilian tasks such as, for example, the environment and disaster relief.
