History

The company's roots go back to the shipping company, founded in 1946 Gotaas -Larsen. This began in 1970 with the operation of LNG tankers. The first new building built in 1975 Hilli, is still at Golar going. Gotaas -Larsen was first taken over by Osprey Maritime 1997. Osprey Maritime, in turn, was acquired in May 2001 by World Shipholding, a company of the Norwegian- Cypriot entrepreneur John Fredriksen.
