Golden Brown

Golden Brown is a ballad of the English rock band The Stranglers and their most successful single.

The song was released in late 1981 on the album La Folie. When the single was released Golden Brown 1982. In the Federal Republic of Germany, where it was the first hit of the band, the song number 63 reached the charts, while the song in the UK with number two reached the highest single - placement of a Stranglers song.

The musical features include the use of a harpsichord melody as well as the change between 6/8- and 7/8-Takt.

The title of the song can be, on the other hand understood on heroin on a girl, according to Hugh Cornwell's statement in his book The Stranglers Song By Song as an allusion to a hand.

There are now numerous cover versions and variations. Also famous by the Japanese anime series Naruto by Akeboshi Wind song is largely based on the tune of Golden Brown. The play Song Of Storms, which was composed by Koji Kondo and is known from the video game series The Legend of Zelda, also based on the tune of Golden Brown.

The music was the soundtrack of the films Snatch - used hand pigs and diamonds and He Died with a Felafel in His, and was frequently used music bed in the WDR -2 broadcast hit rally in the 1980s.

The song also marks a turning point in the band's history the Stranglers. The published before La Folie album won her a reputation as an early punk band. After that, the style was a little quieter.
