Golden Triangle of Art

Golden Triangle of Art (Spanish: Art Triangle del Arte also Triángulo de Oro ) is a group of museums that are located in the center of Madrid, in the zone of the Paseo del Prado. The three art museums that describe this triangle are the Museo del Prado, the Museo Reina Sofía and the Museo Thyssen- Bornemisza and adjoin the old town and the Parque del Retiro. To the famous museums of the vertices of a further number of smaller museums, together complement the Art Triangle del Arte focus.

Origin of the name

The designation of the area as the Golden Triangle de Oro was originally created by the press into life and then introduced by the cultural authorities after the opening of the Museo Thyssen- Bornemisza in 1992.

Visitor

The three vertices of the triangle, the Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen- Bornemisza and the Reina Sofia Museum in 2008 recorded a total of around 5.3 million visitors. The Triangle of Art is a popular excursion point of the capital, Madrid.
