Gold (III ) fluoride is an inorganic chemical compound of gold from the group of fluorides.
Production and representation
Gold (III ) fluoride (V) can be obtained fluoride at 200 ° C or by fluorination of gold (III ) chloride by pyrolysis of Gold.
It can also be represented by fluorination of gold with bromine (III ) fluoride.
Properties
Gold (III ) fluoride is a diamagnetic orange - yellow solid. It decomposes at 500 ° C. Its crystal structure is isotypic to that of silver (III ) fluoride (hexagonal, space group P6122 ), and is composed of square-planar units AuF4 constructed. Each AuF4 unit is connected to two other units, thus resulting helical chains.
With fluoride ion is gold (III ) fluoride Fluoroaurate (III) [ AuF4 ] - and [ Au2F7 ] -. The [ AuF4 ] - ion also occurs in Gold (II ) fluoride Au3F8 ( gold (II ) bis - tetrafluoroaurat (III ) ).
Use
Gold (III ) fluoride can also be used for the preparation of Goldaziden.
