Golęcino, Szczecin

Golęcino ( German woman village) is a district of Szczecin and is located in the north- west of the old Polnoc district on the west bank of the Oder.

History

The place was called in the 13th century and belonged to a Golazin Lord ( " dominus " ) named Bartholomew, who gave it to the Duke Barnim I founded in Szczecin Cistercian monastery. Reported are two records of Duke Barnim I of 1243, which confirmed this donation. Because of the female owners of the convent was named village woman in a row.

Mrs. village was a popular destination, especially of Szczecin citizens who used some of the 84 meter high Juloberg as a vantage point in the 18th century. 1818 was the place in the newly formed county Randow in the district of Stettin. In the second half of the 19th century settled in the place several factories. The largest was the river downstream ironworks force with about 2,500 employees. In 1900 the city had 3962 inhabitants and was following the train route Szczecin - Pölitz - Ziegenort. In the first half of the 20th century, the Baltic shipyard AG was Mrs. village built after the dissolution of the district in 1939 village woman came to the city of Stettin. In 1944, the place and the yard were destroyed by bombing.

After the Second World War, situated in the so-called Szczecin corner site became part of Poland and was named Golęcino.
