Gomphocerinae

Chorthippus parallelus ( Chorthippus parallelus ), ♂

The grasshopper ( Gomphocerinae ) are a species-rich subfamily of grasshoppers ( Acrididae ), whose representatives live preferably in different types of grasslands ( meadows, abandoned grasslands to rarely mown traffic islands ). The head of the grasshopper effect in profile usually more acute than the related wasteland of terror ( Locustinae ). When stridulating apparatus of the grasshopper is inversely as in the Wasteland and the horrors grass ( Acridinae ), the shrill vein in the forewing smooth and the shrill bar on the inside of the hind legs finely toothed.

The singing of the grasshopper is more differentiated than in the wasteland of terror: Most species exhibit a " normal singing " with which the females are attracted, a rival song with which the males demarcate their territory against each other, and a promotional song during courtship. The songs (previous books in the determination of d R. " ordinary singing " ) are an important differentiator for morphologically similar species.

In contrast to the grasshoppers, wasteland and grass horrors missing the other - as a family of Knarrschrecken ( Catantopidae ) combined - Central European grasshoppers of the stridulating apparatus. The latter show as a further common feature of a clearly visible between the front waist pin, which is formed in the first-mentioned three subfamilies most as small bumps.
