Goose Island State Park

The Goose Iceland State Park is located at an elevation of 7 meters above sea level between the Aransas Bay and St. Charles Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. The state park is located north of Rockport in Aransas County of the U.S. state of Texas.

The 130 -acre site was acquired 1931-1935, as a state park designated and established by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The main attraction is an estimated at over a thousand years Virginia oak, which has got the nickname " Big Tree " and is classified as State Champion Coastal Live Oak since 1969. The 13.50 -meter-high tree has a circumference of about 10.67 meters and crown diameter is 27.50 m.

The coastal areas are not suitable for swimming, consisting of marshland, swampy areas or oyster shells. Boating, fishing, nature and bird watching are among the popular activities of park visitors. Overnight facilities are available

In the coastal waters catfish, Black and Red drummer drummers, different kinds of flatfish, trout, sharks, convict bream and tarpon live.
