Gopi Krishna (yogi)

Gopi Krishna (* 1903 in Gairoo, † 1984) was an Indian yogi, mystic, scholar and author. After he had experienced an awakening of kundalini force at the age of 34, he began to engage in the systematic scientific study of the kundalini phenomenon.

Life

Gopi Krishna was born in 1903 in a village outside the northern Indian city of Srinagar. After several years of regular meditation practice met him in 1937 at the age of 34 years off guard a mystical experience, which is referred to in the traditional Hindu scriptures as the " awakening of the Kundalini " or " rising of the Kundalini ." He says that he took while streams of light true, heard about worldly sounds and found himself as limitless consciousness. This overwhelming experience it later formed the basis for a more in-depth systematic examination of the subject. It interested him in particular the biological basis of kundalini ascension. In the course of his future life, he fought for a scientific study of the kundalini phenomenon.

Gopi Krishna also supported the rights of widows in India.
