Gottfried Thomasius

Gottfried Thomasius ( born June 26, 1802 in Egenhausen, market town Obernzenn; † January 24, 1875 in Erlangen, Germany ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Gottfried Thomasius studied in Erlangen, Halle and Berlin, in 1829 became pastor at Nuremberg, in 1842 Professor of Dogmatic Theology and University Preacher in Erlangen. There he died On 24 January 1875.

He married in 1830 in Ansbach Caroline Sophie Christiane Julie Marie Lehmus, daughter of the Dean and parish priest at St. John's Church in Ansbach Theodor Lehmus and Henriette Mohl. The marriage produced two children go forth: Henriette Adelheid and Thomasius. The latter married August von Bechmann, who was a university professor in Munich.
