History

Obernzenn was probably founded in the 8th century. From the 12th century until today, the noble family of the Seckendorf - Aberdar in place is established under the Obernzenn a small sovereign state of about 40 square kilometers was until the late 18th century. The place belonged to the Frankish knights circle. Obernzenn 1806 Bavarian.

Christoph Ludwig von Seckendorf - Aberdar began with the construction of the baroque blue castle, next to the since 1745 the Red Castle was built. Also owned by the Seckendorf is the Unternzenn castle.
