The municipality is located in the southern foothills of the Steigerwald.

History

In Hohelohischen Urkundenbuch Langenfeld was first mentioned on May 23, 1305 at the presentation of the Citadel Wernberg by Heinrich von Hohelohe to his cousin Konrad: Hiltmar of Langenvelt occurs in this case as a witness. From 1317 to 1782 Langenfeld was in possession of the Empire Knights of Seckendorf that there have a castle and escorted right to the road from Nuremberg to Frankfurt (later National Highway 8, now Federal Street 8 ) as was led through their territory, exercised. After the Thirty Years War, settled here around 40 to Protestant religious refugees from Austria, which significantly contributed in their new home for the reconstruction .. In 1997, the council was planning the expansion of the narrow street school and tried to grants from the Urban Development Mentoring Program, which were granted in 2007 and enabled the creation of the village square with the Paul Reutter Fountain. In 2008, Langenfeld received a new village center by establishing a multi-generational home. This was in competition Germany - Land of Ideas Award.
