Geography

Geographical Location

Flachslanden is located northwest of the city of Ansbach, about midway between Bad Windsheim and Ansbach in the natural park of Franconia. Valleys of Franconian Rezat, Beavers, Mettlach and Zenn give hikers the typical Franconian landscape images.

History

The German Order had since 1294 held the rule in place here and a come, a lower administrative authority established that belonged francs Deutschordensballei. From 1500 this bailiwick was part of the Frankish kingdom circle. In 1806, the acquisition by the Kingdom of Bavaria. The 1818 resulting municipality Flachslanden consists of the formerly independent communities Neustetten, Kettenhöfstetten, Sondernohe and Virnsberg since 1978.

The famous baroque - medalist Georg Pfründt came from Flachslanden. The writer Friedrich Wilhelm Güll, one of the first German children's hymn writer, was for a time a teacher in Flachslanden.

1993-1995 the Flachslanden processes against 19 people from the area of flat lands were held before the District Court of Ansbach, who were accused of mass child abuse.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Kettenhöfstetten and Neustetten were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Sondernohe and Virnsberg were added.

The market council of Flachslanden consists of 14 members and the full-time mayor.

Mayor

After the local elections in 2008 sparked Hans Henninger ( list all) from the office since 1996 and not reconnected occurred Mayor Renate Hermann ( SPD).

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms description is: Argent, a turned wandered red top, is a silver ring; front of a blue flower flat, rear a floating black Tatzenkreuz.

Structures

Other attractions in the municipality include the St. Lawrence's Church from the 10th century and the German monastery church in the district Sondernohe in a transitional style from Baroque to early classicism. The German Teutonic castle in the district Virnsberg and the Holy grave are worth seeing.

Traffic

The market can be reached via the federal highway 13 (exit between teachers and mountain Oberdachstetten ) as well as on the state road from Ansbach to Neustadt.
