History

After 1310 the current municipality came into the possession of the Bishopric of Eichstätt, which was in the Frankish Empire Circle from 1500. With the Imperial Diet of 1803, the site then became part of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, a part of the former municipality Büchelberg was incorporated. On May 1, 1978, in the course of municipal reform added the formerly independent municipality vineyard.

Traffic

The A6 motorway runs from east to west by the municipality. On the eastern edge of the municipality is the junction Herzogenaurach. There crosses the A 6 B 14, which was downgraded from the junction to the main road 1066. The state highway crosses the main town and the district of Vineyard from northeast to southwest. Herzogenaurach is connected by bus lines 804 and 805 to the county town of Ansbach, the district town Dinkelsbühl and the neighboring communities. Evenings and weekends runs a call taxi to the train station in Ansbach.
