Geographical Location
Insingen is located in the natural park of Franconia.

History
Insingen belonged to the Empire pin Rothenburg. Parts of the Bailiwick were in the Prussian principality of Ansbach. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. Created in 1818 with the municipality edict today's political community.
Incorporations
On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Lohr was incorporated.

After the last municipal election on March 2, 2008, the council has twelve members. The turnout was 65.6 %. The choice was as follows:
