Geography

Geographical Location

Ehingen is located at the foot of Mount Hessel. Neighboring municipalities are ( starting in the north clockwise): Bechhofen, Arberg, Unterschwaningen, Wassertruedingen, Röckingen, Gerolfingen, Wittelshofen, long Furth and Burk.

History

Remains of the Roman Limes, called the Devil's Wall, are still preserved in the municipal area.

The viscount of Nuremberg and later Margrave of Ansbach acquired in the 14th century, the control of the municipality. From 1418 to 1806 the chief official in Santa Maria possessions of the county Oettingen were managed in place.

The 1792 acquired by Prussia Principality of Ansbach and with him Ehingen fell in the Treaty of Paris ( February 1806 ) by exchange of Bavaria. The municipality was created Ehingen 1818.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972 Beyer mountain was incorporated. Dambach and Lentersheim were added on 1 May 1978.

The coat of arms description reads: Shared; quartered top of silver and black, topped with a silver silver thistle flower; divided down from silver and red with a growing picket fence in confused colors.

Traffic

Through the village take the road St2248 and the county road AN49 runs. The public transport is ensured by the regional transport system Nuremberg.

Long distance routes

Passing through the municipality of the German Limes Cycle Route. It follows the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes 818 km from Bad Hönningen am Rhein to Regensburg on the Danube.
