Weiltingen is a market in the district of Ansbach, Middle Franconia. It is a member of the administrative community Wilburgstetten.

Geography

Geographical location

Weiltingen is located on the Wörnitz near Hessel Dinkelsbühl near the mountain, with 689 m the highest mountain of Middle Franconia. Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Wittelshofen, Gerolfingen, Wassertruedingen, Fremdingen and Wilburgstetten.

History

Near the town of Dinkelsbühl the market Weiltingen, once the seat of a collateral line of the House of Württemberg lies. Besides Weiltingen itself belonged to rule the hamlet hamlet Veit and Wolfsbühl and some of the villages Frankenhofen and Greiselbach. In the 17th century the rule was issued to the Lords of Knöringen as a fief. When this family became extinct in the male line in 1616, the fief was home to Duke Johann Friedrich of Württemberg. With his brothers joined the reigning duke in 1617 the " Prince Fraternal comparison " in which the indivisibility of the Duchy of Württemberg was committed. At the same time the younger brother Julius Friedrich (1588-1635) was given dominion Weiltingen and the market town Brenz as appanage. In Weiltingen he founded a line of the House of Württemberg, remained unmarried but in which many sons. The son of Julius Frederick, Duke Silvius Nimrod of Württemberg- Weiltingen (1622-1664) founded, for its part, the line - Württemberg oil.

Three generations ruled the Dukes of Württemberg in Weiltingen. Duke Ferdinand Friedrich (1654-1705) died without a surviving son, after which the line - Württemberg Weiltingen extinguished in the male line.

Then, the rule Weiltingen went back into the main line and was administered by the Chamber scribbling in Stuttgart as the administrative authority of the duke's private wealth. In 1729 the Chamber of writing the landscape, leaving the rule as mortgage to 50 years for 330,000 florins; after the expiration of this period, the pledge has been extended by another 20 years.

After redesigning the chamber writing for the Court and domain chamber King Frederick of Württemberg in 1807 taught in Weiltingen a "Court and domain chamber manager " and occupied it with the official Friedrich August Christlieb. Just three years later the king, however, the rule of the Kingdom of Bavaria ceded by a treaty with Bavaria and received the former German religious domination Altshausen. Thus, the court heard and domain chamber manager Weiltingen to exist.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1971 Wörnitzhofen was incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Frankenhofen and Veit hamlet came and the place Bosacker the community Schopflohe ( district of Donau -Ries ) is added.

Long distance routes

Through the municipal area leads the German Limes Cycle Route. It follows the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes 818 km from Bad Hönningen am Rhein to Regensburg on the Danube.
