Geographical Location
The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers west of Ansbach in the natural park of Franconia.
Neighboring communities
Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Diebach, Wörnitz, Quick village, Rot am See and Insingen.

History
Incorporations
On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Gailnau was incorporated.

After the last municipal election on March 2, 2008, the council has eight members. The turnout was 77.6 %. The choice was as follows:

Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: In silver over green three mountain which is covered with a silver wave beams, a floating red castle with towers built, beseitet front of a vertical black keys, the back of a black sword.

Special
- During the 1970s, the congregation betting rings and the village Weikersholz competed in Rot am See in Baden- Württemberg to the source of the Tauber. Today the fountain is officially regarded as Weikersholz location of the source.
- Annual events include the cattle market in March, the fair in July and the Fountain Festival in June.
- Just outside the resort there is a swimming pond. It was opened as part of land consolidation in 1970.
