Geographical location

Geslau is located in the natural park of Franconia. Through the village flows the Kreuth Bach.

History

The place belonged to the Principality of Ansbach in 1792 acquired by Prussia, which was in the Frankish Empire Circle from 1500. As part of the Principality of Geslau fell in the Treaty of Paris ( February 1806 ) by exchange of Bavaria. The municipality was created as part of the municipality of the Edict of 1818.

Incorporations

At the local government reform in Bavaria, the formerly independent communities Dornhausen, Gunzendorf, Schwab Roth and Stettberg were incorporated on 1 January 1972. On July 1, 1972 were part of the dissolved municipality Bieg added.

Parish council

After the last municipal election on March 2, 2008, the council has twelve members, all at the fraction Geslau area / forest community include. The turnout was 73.7 %. Another member and chairman of the municipal council is the mayor.

The coat of arms description reads: In silver with a silver shield main, side by side in five growing green conifers, a golden reinforced red eagle with golden clover stalks on the wings.

Traffic

From west to east the main road runs through the town in 2250.

The community is served by five bus routes that connect the locations with the county town of Ansbach, nearby stations or the neighboring communities.

Geslau is located on the Castle Road.
