History

The name means something like " to the long Furth " and probably dates back to a paved with stones point where you could get through the Sulzach with a wagon. The community Langfurth got its name only on 11 November 1968, when the long-outdated from the development, but until then valid name " community Oberkemmathen " has been changed. As part of local government reform in the former municipalities Dorfkemmathen (1973) and Ammelbruch ( 1978) and the districts Matzmannsdorf, Neumühlestrasse, Oberkemmathen, Sagmuhle, Schlierberg and Stöckau were then combined to form a community. The place Langfurth is historically still very young: In the 17th century there was only one mill " on the long- Furth ". In the 18th century settled soldiers who had resigned from margravial services in long Furth on. And when they were without land, they lived in very poor conditions. 1805 bought district director Freiherr von Lüttwitz from farmers Ziehr in Oberkemmathen 24 morning fields and thus ensured that the settlers own land were given and provide for their livelihood could. Yet 1824 was one long Furth only 37 estate, ten years later, there were 45 in 1849 the first school was opened in Long Furth, 1884, the site had grown to 80 properties.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1973, the previously independent community Dorfkemmathen was incorporated. Ammelbruch was added on 1 May 1978.

The municipal council of long Furth is composed of 15 councilors, including the full-time mayor.

Mayor

Mayor Klaus Miosga from the district Dorfkemmathen since 1 May 2008. He was able to prevail in the local elections against his running mate and predecessor Edith stump.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: Across from Silver and Black geviertem sign foot in the wave cut split of green and silver, the front three silver oblique beams, behind a red pole.

The community Langfurth is traversed by the Sulzach, which is indicated by the wavy line. The oblique beams go on the coat of arms of the lords of Ammelbruch - back ( 1189 1510). The vertical red bar goes back to the sign of the Lords of Oberkemmathen ( 1167-1508 ). The influence of the Marquis of Hohenzollern on the territory of today's church is symbolized by the Hohenzollervierung the bottom of the coat of arms.

Sports

In the community Langfurth there are three sports clubs. The 1st FC Long Furth, TSV Dorfkemmathen and Sportfreunde Ammelbruch. The first FC Langfurth includes a football field, a tennis court, a table tennis and a walking department. In addition, the club kids gymnastics and dance, and gymnastics offers. Also some gun clubs are established in the various districts.

Religion

In long- Furth itself, there is no church, but a Catholic chapel in private ownership. In Dorfkemmathen is the Protestant Marienkirche and the Ammelbruch also Peter Evangelical Church.

Regular events

The first FC Langfurth held at Carnival, Easter and Christmas each a rock night at the locally renowned bands play. This rock night is very popular in the wider area.

Long Furth is a member of the Tourism Romantic Franconia.
