Gotthardt Wolf

Gotthardt Wolf ( born June 22, 1887 in Eppendorf; † January 20, 1947 in Potsdam ) was a German cinematographer.

Life

After training as a photographer, he specialized in reproduction and portrait photography. In 1910 he began working as a cameraman for the easier still in the early cinematography. From 1916 to 1918 he made ​​military service in Finland, among others, as a cameraman for the Imperial image and movie office.

Of key importance was finally its interaction with actor - director Harry Piel. Under Piel's leadership, Wolf developed an expert for technical camera trick shots and special effects.

With the dawn of the talkie era, Wolf parted from Piel and worked mainly for the industrial film. He worked at this time with the intense color photography. For study purposes he stayed temporarily in London. In 1937 he was in Berlin Technicolor cameraman at Siemens for industrial and promotional films.
