Grabów nad Pilicą

Grabów nad Pilicą is a village located in powiat Kozienicki in the Masovian Voivodeship, Poland. Grabów nad Pilicą is also seat of the rural commune ( gmina wiejska ).

Geography

Grabów nad Pilicą is 58 km south of Warsaw and 28 km north- west of the county town Kozienice and lies on the River Pilicą.

History

A first mention of a settlement at this place of dates of Casimir the Great from 1359. Grabów The name appears for the first time in 1569. After the third partition of Poland, the village became part of Austria. Along the Pilicą river was the border between Austria and Prussia. From this time a garrison building is still standing, it now houses the municipal office. Over the centuries, the village changed hands several times. During the Second World War, the village was almost completely destroyed.

From 1975 to 1998, the village belonged to the Province of Radom.
