Grand Pond

Home to rare water birds

The Great Pond located in the park east of the main entrance of Schloss Ambras in the city of Innsbruck. The Habsburgs laid the lake at that time to give a home to rare waterfowl.

The Aldranser Bach supplied the lake with fresh water on one hand and on the other hand, it drains these also. This lake is maintained consistently good water quality of stage II. The park management fenced one its banks because the lake was formerly often illegally used as a swimming lake. The muddy seabed and the reeds regions offer the birds food and shelter.
