Grand Prix Charles-Leopold Mayer
The Prix Charles Léopold Mayer is a year by the French Académie des Sciences award science prize for basic research in the field of biology, biochemistry and biophysics. Charles Léopold Mayer is named (1881-1971), an Irish- French chemist, financier and philanthropist.
The prize is awarded irrespective of nationality and place of residence of the prize winner, but he is not in two consecutive years of recipients from the same countries ( " nationaux d'un même pays étranger " ) will be awarded. The prize money of 38,000 euros (as of 2012) is not designed to supply the prize winner, but the promotion of further research, which is why people are excluded over 65 years of the award.
14 of 67 winners (as of summer 2013) later received a Nobel Prize.
